Joanne Cash today launched a new campaign, ‘Don’t let it be you’ to combat ID fraud in Westminster North.
Joanne says:
“ID thieves cost Britain more than £1.2 billion every year and residents in London are two times more likely to be victims of ID fraud than anyone else in the country. Some areas in Westminster North fall within the top 25 most at-risk areas inside of the M25.
ID fraud is a serious threat which can, with a few easy steps, be greatly reduced. I want to raise residents’ awareness, give them the means to protect themselves and increase police action on this issue
To combat ID fraud it is vital to ensure that post for residents you have never heard of or who have left or died is returned or marked ‘unknown at this address.’”
As part of her campaign, Joanne is offering to provide local residents with sheets of ‘return to sender’ stickers that can be stuck on any unclaimed mail that may come through their door.
Residents can apply for their free stickers, report Identity Fraud or obtain further tips on how to avoid becoming a victim of identity fraud by contacting Joanne on 020 7625 3805 or at joanne@westminsternorthconservatives.com
Joanne is determined to stop ID thieves targeting residents in Westminster North:
“I was alarmed to discover how vulnerable residents in this constituency are to Identity Fraud.
Westminster North has a high population turnover, especially amongst young professionals and many properties use communal mail boxes.
When I am out campaigning, it is common to see piles of unclaimed post lying in communal hallways throughout our constituency. Identity fraudsters thrive in these circumstances.
In addition to increasing awareness and giving residents the means to protect themselves, I also want to lobby for increased police activity on this issue. To do this I need to be able to show that residents share my concerns. Please register your support for my campaign by logging onto my website www.joannecash.co.uk and signing the online petition.”
